Australian artist Liesl Pfeffer’s collages and embroidery took me by surprise. Her mountain collages are almost crystallized, and the embroidered mountain interpretations are so literal and bare. Every time I’m around mountains (which aren’t a familiar landscape for me), I’m distracted by their crowdedness and fog—Pfeffer gives us a geometric view that’s both stripped-down and complex at once.
